Kwara Police Nab Two Suspected Kidnappers And Arms Couriers
According to Ireporter Online, operatives of the Force Intelligence Department–Intelligence Response Team (FID‑IRT), in partnership with the Kwara State Police Command, have apprehended two suspected kidnappers and arms couriers in a strategic operation along the Omu‑Aran–Oko Road in Kwara State.
The arrests, which occurred on Saturday, December 13, 2025, were the result of intelligence‑driven surveillance targeting criminal supply networks linked to kidnapping and banditry within the state.
Initial reports indicate that one suspect, apprehended as an alleged arms courier, led authorities to a second suspect, described as a notorious kidnapping kingpin operating in the same area. The suspects have been identified as Abubakar Mohammed Lawal, from Yamatawa village in Warawa Local Government Area of Kano State, and Abubakar Manu, from Oro‑Ago village in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State.
During the operation, police recovered a black Bagco bag containing items reportedly intended for delivery to bandits hiding in the Oro‑Ago forest. Confiscated items included a military camouflage water bag, a black rechargeable torchlight, a black face cap, and five Baofeng walkie‑talkies.
The suspects reportedly admitted that the consignment originated from Jos, Plateau State, and was transported through the Kano State Motor Park in Ilorin before their arrest. They further revealed that the items were destined for a bandit leader known as Nagala Danladi, who allegedly commands over 300 armed bandits in the Oro‑Ago axis.
Investigations suggest that the suspects are part of a larger criminal network responsible for terrorising communities across Kano, Kwara, and Niger states. Authorities say they also function as arms and ammunition suppliers for criminal groups in the region.
