According to Ireporter Online, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi has been re-elected as Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State for a second term. The announcement came on Tuesday during the party’s state congress held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, formerly Onikan Stadium, where over 2,000 delegates from across the state endorsed the new executive in a consensus arrangement.

Party leaders described the exercise as peaceful, orderly, and reflective of Lagos’ continued prominence within the APC. The congress returned Ojelabi and other members of the State Executive Committee through voice affirmation, reinforcing the party’s unity and structure in the state.

Stella Okotete, Chairman of the State Congress Committee, announced the consensus list, confirming that the process adhered strictly to the party’s constitutional provisions. She described Lagos as “the heartbeat of progressive politics and the proud home of President Bola Tinubu,” emphasizing the state’s pivotal role in the party’s national influence.

“The strength of Lagos is a vital part of our party. It is vital to the strength of our party nationwide,” Okotete said, adding that the congress was conducted in accordance with Article 20 of the APC constitution and approved guidelines. She further emphasized that the exercise was a demonstration of unity, not a contest among adversaries, but among progressive family members guided by shared ideology.

Alongside Ojelabi, other executive members returned through consensus include Deputy Chairman Moshood Mayegun, Secretary Dr. Adeola Jokomba, Publicity Secretary Oluseye Oladejo, Legal Adviser Folashade Bakare, Treasurer Abiodun Ayigbe, Financial Secretary Banjo Adedoyin-Wasiu, Organising Secretary Ayodele Adewale, and Youth Leader Seriki Muritala.

Okotete reminded aspirants and delegates that eligibility to contest and vote was strictly governed by the party constitution. She stressed that only registered members who had fulfilled all requirements, including payment of prescribed fees, were qualified to participate.

She urged all members to respect the outcome and emphasized that leadership within the party is about service and unity. “Let this congress further consolidate our progressive mantra and strengthen our structure in support of the renewal agenda of our President,” she said.
