Lagos Lawyer Takes Legal Action Against MTN, Seeks Dissolution of Board

Shehu Sani, the former senator for Kaduna Central, has reacted strongly to the defection of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Social Democratic Party (SDP). Sani, in an interview on Channels Television, described El-Rufai’s resignation as a “good riddance,” stating that the former governor had become a liability to the APC, particularly in Kaduna State.

Sani highlighted the decline in APC’s political strength under El-Rufai’s leadership, pointing to the party’s loss of all senatorial seats in the 2023 elections and the reduction in the number of House of Representatives seats it held in the state. He argued that El-Rufai’s exit presents an opportunity for the current state governor, Uba Sani, and other APC leaders to reconnect with the people and re-energize the party ahead of future elections.

El-Rufai’s resignation letter, submitted to his ward in Kaduna on March 10, 2025, cited irreconcilable differences with the APC’s leadership as his reason for leaving.
