Lai Mohammed Breaks Silence: “Politics Is For Life — I’m Still 100% With Tinubu”
According to Ireporter Online, former Minister of Information Lai Mohammed has reaffirmed his continued involvement in Nigerian politics, insisting that political participation is a lifelong engagement. Speaking on Friday during the convocation lecture at Achievers University in Ondo State, Mohammed stated that despite taking a step back from public visibility, he remains fully aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He explained that after years of operating prominently at the national level, he now offers his support quietly through what he described as “back channels.” Mohammed noted that having served as Minister for eight years — one of the longest tenures in the country’s history — he deliberately stays away from the spotlight while still contributing to national governance.
Mohammed also defended President Tinubu against what he considers unfair criticism, particularly regarding insecurity. He argued that many Nigerians lack an understanding of the challenges governmental leaders face behind the scenes. According to him, insecurity is a global concern, and every citizen has a role to play through cooperation and actionable intelligence.
He emphasized that the president cannot single-handedly monitor events across the nation, urging communities to report suspicious activities to aid national security efforts. Mohammed maintained that President Tinubu is doing his best under difficult circumstances and called on Nigerians to support the government rather than intensify criticisms.
