‘Leadership Transfer’ Abdulsalami Bagudu Named Acting Army Chief As Lagbaja Takes Leave
The Nigerian Army has announced that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, is currently on leave..….. CONTINUE READING
This clarification follows rumors suggesting the COAS is incapacitated due to health issues. Army spokesperson, Onyema Nwachukwu, explained that the leadership structure has protocols in place to prevent any vacuum. He confirmed that Major General Abdulsalami Ibrahim, the Army’s Chief of Policy and Plans, is acting on behalf of the COAS during his absence.
In his statement, Nwachukwu emphasized that the COAS’ leave will not disrupt the Army’s operations, dismissing claims of leadership confusion as unfounded.
“The Nigerian Army is a well-organized institution with established procedures to handle all situations. Before going on leave, the necessary arrangements were made for Major General Abdulsalami Bagudu Ibrahim to act in the COAS’ stead. Any suggestions of a leadership vacuum are purely speculative, as all operations are proceeding as planned,” Nwachukwu stated.
