Major Shake-Up In Bauchi As Governor Redeploys Commissioners
According to Ireporter Online, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has approved a major redeployment of cabinet members following the resignation of several top government officials. The reshuffle comes after the exit of the Chief of Staff at the Government House, Hassan Gamawa, alongside six commissioners who reportedly stepped down to pursue political ambitions.
The development was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s media aide, Mukhtar Gidado, noting that the sudden vacancies necessitated an immediate restructuring of responsibilities within the State Executive Council.
As part of the new arrangement, the Principal Private Secretary, Hashimu Yakubu, has been assigned to oversee duties at the Office of the Chief of Staff. Mohammed Lawal R/Zayam has been redeployed to supervise the Ministry of Power, Science and Technology.
Similarly, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Hassan Usman El-Yakub, will now oversee the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, while the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Usman Usman Shehu, has been tasked with supervising the Ministry of Water Resources.
In the same vein, the Commissioner for Housing and Environment, Danlami Ahmed Kawule, will take charge of the Ministry of Rural Development and Special Duties. The Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning, Amina Muhammad Katagum, has been reassigned to supervise the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management.
Also affected in the restructuring is the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, which will now be supervised by the Commissioner for Cooperatives and SMEs, Mohammed Sadiq Shira. The Chief Security Adviser to the Governor, Sani Mohammed, has been directed to oversee the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs.
Governor Mohammed, while wishing the departed officials success in their future endeavours, urged those redeployed to discharge their new responsibilities with diligence and commitment. He further directed all affected officials to work closely with permanent secretaries to ensure continuity and effective service delivery across ministries and agencies.
