exceeding $71,000, attracting runners from across Africa and beyond.
Race Director Gabriel Okon confirmed that the competition welcomes both elite athletes and fun runners, offering a diverse experience for fitness enthusiasts of all levels. The 5km race will begin at Eagle Square and conclude at the ECOWAS Commission in Asokoro, while the 21km race will start and finish at the Commission.
“The marathon symbolizes unity, empowerment, and a celebration of healthy living,” Okon stated. The prize pool has been increased for the 5km race, with the top 10 finishers guaranteed cash prizes. Additionally, participants will receive race certificates, medals, and exclusive gifts.
Online registration is available, with forms accessible through Athletics Federation of Nigeria offices and Sports Council locations across the Federal Capital Territory. The marathon continues to solidify Abuja’s status as a premier destination for international athletics.
