The operation, executed based on credible intelligence, saw law enforcement officers swiftly intervening to prevent the cult initiation.
SP Omolola Odutola, the command’s spokesperson, revealed that the police received information about the planned cult initiation at the hotel. Acting promptly, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ota, mobilized a team that stormed the location where members of the Supreme Buccaneers Confraternity, also known as Alora, were reportedly gathered.
Odutola narrated, “Upon the police arrival, the suspected cultists attempted to lock the gate but were overpowered by the police officers, leading to the arrest of 52 suspects while some were able to escape.”
The operation took place on 21/01/24 around 00:45 hrs when the DPO Ifo reported the successful arrest of the suspected cultists. The SWAT Commander, leading tactical teams, reinforced the DPO for the operation, resulting in the apprehension of 55 suspects, including some females. Despite the cult group’s efforts to resist the police presence, law enforcement gained access to the hotel premises.
Among the items recovered from the suspects were needles, T-shirts bearing Alora inscriptions, three private vehicles, and 58 different phones. The arrested individuals, including Adigun Ayomide and Obanla Abayomi, have been charged to court after the completion of the investigation.
The Ogun State Police Command remains committed to combating criminal activities and ensuring the safety and security of residents in the state. The successful raid on the cult initiation venue underscores the proactive measures taken by law enforcement to curb the activities of such groups and maintain public order.
