Minister Giadam Reminds Police: Your Primary Role Is To Maintain Law, Order, And Protect Lives And Property

Giadam emphasized that a secure and stable society is essential for businesses to thrive without fear of crime, corruption, or interference. He underscored the police’s primary duties to uphold law and order, safeguard lives and property, and enforce the rule of law.
Addressing the PEBEC team led by Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, Giadam expressed optimism about collaborative efforts to enhance Nigeria’s economic landscape through regulatory reforms. He highlighted the Ease of Doing Business Regulatory Reform Accelerator initiative as a testament to their commitment to fostering business growth and development.
Giadam stressed the importance of fairness, transparency, and accountability in winning the trust of investors. He emphasized the need to combat corruption within the police force by enforcing anti-corruption laws, investigating cases, and promoting transparency in operations.
The Minister affirmed the government’s objective to eliminate corruption and misconduct, ensuring a police force that commands respect and admiration. He pledged to implement robust systems for addressing misconduct and corruption transparently and promptly.
In response, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole commended the Minister’s dedication to implementing the President’s agenda for creating a business-friendly environment. She urged the ministry to facilitate ease of doing business in key areas such as airports, seaports, and trade corridors to address challenges like extortion and delays in goods movement.
Oduwole emphasized the need to enhance the business climate, streamline processes, and mitigate challenges faced by investors and travelers, emphasizing the importance of avoiding litigation against government agencies.
