public apology, or face legal action.
Obi Efeizomor II, who also chairs the Delta North Traditional Rulers Forum, condemned the lawyer’s social media remarks, describing them as false, defamatory, and intended to tarnish his reputation.
Through his counsel, Raymond Isitor, the monarch issued a letter to the lawyer, citing a video that purportedly contained defamatory statements linking the royal father to an alleged incident at his palace on November 6, 2024. The letter demanded an immediate retraction and warned of legal consequences if the ultimatum was not met.
The letter read in part:
“Our client’s attention has been drawn to a video recording authored by you, casting aspersions on our client in connection to an alleged ordeal of a citizen at the palace of our client. You alleged that our client masterminded an attack on the citizen and called for his arrest, inciting public violence against our client.”
It further clarified that the allegations were baseless, noting that the purported victim had sworn an affidavit regarding the incident, without mentioning the monarch’s involvement.
The Obi emphasized that the statements in question were maliciously crafted to harm his esteemed public image and denigrate his status as a revered traditional ruler.
