My Mum Will Be Angry” — Bella Shmurda Reveals How He Stole Bicycle To Fund Music Career

Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has opened up about the difficult circumstances he faced while trying to raise money to pursue his music career.

According to Ireporter Online, the singer recalled an incident during his early days in Lagos when he went to extraordinary lengths to raise money for studio sessions.

Speaking during an interview on Echo Room, Bella Shmurda revealed that while living in the Okoko area of Lagos, he once stole a bicycle belonging to his neighbour’s son and later sold it.

The singer said he secretly took the bicycle at night and sold it in Alaba for ₦7,000, using the money to finance his recording sessions as he struggled to establish himself in the music industry.

Bella Shmurda explained that the incident happened at a time when he desperately needed money to continue working on his music.

He, however, disclosed that he has since met the owner of the bicycle and made efforts to correct his actions by buying him a replacement.

The singer admitted that his mother would likely be upset if she heard him publicly recounting the incident.

“If my mom hears this, she’ll be angry. When we lived in Okoko, I once stole my neighbour’s son’s bicycle and hid it at night. I sold it in Alaba for ₦7,000 to pay for studio sessions. I’ve seen him since and bought him a new bicycle,” Bella Shmurda said.

The revelation offers a glimpse into the struggles the singer faced before achieving success in Nigeria’s music industry and the lengths he went to in pursuit of his career.
