Ogologomma’ Singer Papi Urhobo D!es After Long Battle With Illness

Nigerian musician Stephen Ebihor, popularly known as Papi Urhobo, has died following a battle with illness.

According to Ireporter Online, the singer, who gained recognition for his contribution to Timaya’s popular song, “Ogologomma,” passed away on September 8, 2026.

The news of his death was announced on Tuesday by Urhobo Worldwide, a cultural and digital platform dedicated to promoting Urhobo heritage, in a statement shared on Instagram.

The platform described Ebihor as a brother, friend, colleague and fellow entertainer, while appealing to members of the public to respect the family during the period of mourning.

It also urged fans and colleagues to avoid circulating unverified information about his burial arrangements until an official announcement is made by his family.

Before his death, Papi Urhobo had publicly spoken about the health challenges he faced following an accident that reportedly affected his mobility.

The musician disclosed that the accident caused a crack in his bone and made it difficult for him to walk. As his condition continued, he appealed to Nigerians and other well-wishers for financial assistance to enable him undergo medical treatment and surgery.

He later expressed appreciation to those who responded to his appeal and contributed towards his treatment.

Papi Urhobo became widely known in the Nigerian music industry through his memorable contribution to “Ogologomma,” one of the notable songs from Timaya’s 2007 debut album, True Story.

His distinctive vocal contribution to the song helped introduce him to a wider audience and earned him recognition among music lovers.

The late musician is survived by his wife and children, while his family is expected to announce details of his funeral arrangements in due course.
