Ndidi Hosts Joyous Boxing Day For Local Children
Super Eagles and Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi brought joy to approximately 2,000 children in Ajegunle, Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Area of Lagos State, on Boxing Day, as part of the area’s Christmas festivities, reported The IReporter…READ MORE…
The children’s party took place at the Maracana Sports Centre and was organized in collaboration with prominent businessman Yemi Idowu, local government chairman Fatai Ayoola, and the traditional ruler of Iwa and Apapa, Mohammed Amodu-Tijani.
Despite currently being sidelined with a hamstring injury, Ndidi took part in serving guests at the event and distributed food items to the children.
The 28-year-old shared that his own Christmas experiences growing up inspired him to organize the event.
“I believe it’s a festive period, and these children deserve something special. It’s an event they will remember,” the midfielder said during the celebration.
“The joy on the children’s faces is indescribable. When you do something for adults, the emotions might remain with them, but when you create experiences for children, the adults see that happiness and often want to replicate it. Our goal is to create lasting memories, and I feel fulfilled doing this, especially since some of us didn’t have such experiences while growing up. I was raised in a military barracks, as many know. This is not about football; it’s about creating memories during a school break, particularly for the kids.”
Yemi Idowu, host and CEO of Cana Sports, praised Ndidi for his contribution.
“This is part of our annual initiative to celebrate with children, especially in Ajegunle where we have strong ties. I am grateful for the support of the king, the chairman, and Wilfred in making this happen. Collaborating makes a significant impact.”
Fatai Ayoola, the chairman of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government, highlighted his role in ensuring the event ran smoothly.
“We first accredited the children at the LGA secretariat and transported them here. We also made provisions for any children who arrived unannounced at Maracana Park, ensuring they too were taken care of so that we could host a perfect party.
“This is a joyful, back-to-back celebration for the children of Ajegunle, and we are delighted to have Ndidi here. This month alone, we’ve had three visitors provide the kids with wonderful Christmas gifts, and our aim is to make them happy in the best way possible.
