NDLEA Storms Abuja Drug Dens, 132 Suspects Nabbed In Massive Crackdown
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has conducted an extensive anti-narcotics operation across the Federal Capital Territory, resulting in the arrest of 132 suspects and the seizure of 220 kilograms of illicit substances.
According to reports from Ireporter Online, the two-week operation, which ran from April 11 to April 25, 2026, followed coordinated intelligence gathering and surveillance efforts across Abuja and surrounding communities. The exercise was executed by the agency’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigation in collaboration with the FCT Strategic Command, targeting locations associated with drug abuse, trafficking, and related criminal activities.
Operatives raided several identified hotspots, including Torabora Hills, Area 3, Gwarinpa, AYA, Durumi, Banex, Dei-Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi, and the Suleja axis, all believed to be key distribution points for illegal substances.
Recovered items during the operation included significant quantities of skunk, alongside other narcotics such as Diazepam, Exol, Tramadol, Mogadon, cocaine, Rohypnol, methamphetamine, Ecstasy, and bottles of codeine syrup, with the total weight of seizures estimated at 220 kilograms.
The agency disclosed that its personnel encountered resistance in certain locations, particularly in Durumi Area 1 and the Suleja market axis. Despite the challenges, the situation was effectively contained, with all suspects apprehended without any casualties, while also disrupting established drug supply networks.
The Director of Operations and General Investigation, Ahmed Sule Ningi, subsequently briefed the agency’s leadership on the outcome, commending the professionalism and coordination of officers involved, and emphasizing the importance of sustained enforcement efforts.
In response, the Chairman of the NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, praised the success of the operation and urged the expansion of similar strategies to other parts of the country as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and abuse.
