According to NERC, AEDC failed to adhere to the tariff guidelines, sparking concerns among consumers and industry stakeholders. Following a comprehensive review and taking into account customer feedback, NERC found that AEDC had implemented the new tariff across all customer bands, contrary to the Order’s objective of ensuring equitable billing practices.

Consequently, NERC has instructed AEDC to reimburse customers in Bands B, C, D, and E who were billed above the permissible tariff bands stipulated in the Order.

The fine levied on AEDC underscores NERC’s commitment to enforcing regulatory compliance within the electricity sector, aiming to safeguard consumer interests and ensure transparency in tariff implementation.
