New Navy Base In Kano State

The Navy on Wednesday approved the establishment of a base in Kano.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo, broke the news when he paid a courtesy call to Kano Governor, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, in his office.

The Navy also announced the appointment of Captain Muhammad Abubakar Alhassan as acting commander of the Kano Naval Base.

The approval for the establishment of a base in Kano comes as a response to Ganduje’s earlier request for the Navy visibility in the state, which he said would strengthening the security of the state considered as economic nerve centre of the north and west African countries.

Gambo and other naval officers were in Kano for the Chief of Naval Staff Annual Conference 2021, holding from September 1 to 4.

The Chief of Naval Staff also visited the Emir of Kano in his palace to brief him about his mission in Kano and the approval for the Kano Naval Base project.

He commended Ganduje for his efforts on successful operations of the Navy.

The Governor commended the Navy for choosing Kano for their conference.
