Several Nigerian footballers delivered standout performances across Europe over the weekend, contributing key goals and assists that secured victories for their respective clubs.

Leading the charge was Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, who continued his fine form for Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig. According to reports, Osimhen scored in the 66th minute to double Galatasaray’s lead in a 3-0 triumph over Istanbul Basaksehir, after Wilfried Singo had opened the scoring and Renato Nhaga sealed the win late in the match. The striker also nearly scored with a spectacular overhead kick that struck the woodwork. With the goal, Osimhen’s league tally reached 12 goals in 19 appearances, alongside four assists, while his overall season total now stands at 19 goals and seven assists across all competitions.

Paul Onuachu continued his prolific streak for Trabzonspor, scoring the match-winning goal in a victory against Caykur Rizespor. This goal extended his remarkable run of scoring in ten consecutive league matches, bringing his tally to 21 goals for the season. Onuachu’s achievement has also earned him a place in Trabzonspor’s history, becoming the first player since 1992 to score in eight consecutive league games for the club.

In England, Josh Maja ended a prolonged goal drought as West Bromwich Albion defeated Hull City 3-0 in the Championship. Maja opened the scoring in the 25th minute, marking only his second goal in 32 appearances this season and ending a 25-match wait for a goal. The strike could prove pivotal as West Brom fight to maintain distance from the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, in Turkey’s second division, Nigerian duo Christian Nwachukwu and Raymond Adeola were instrumental in Serikspor’s 4-1 victory over Adana Demirspor. Nwachukwu scored his first goal for the club, while Adeola provided an assist and later added a goal of his own, helping secure a decisive win as the club progresses through the league campaign.

Nigerian footballers continue to make significant impacts abroad, showcasing their talent and reinforcing their status as key contributors to European clubs.
