Nigerians React As Toyin Abraham Defends-Support For Tinubu , Reveals Promises Of Good Governance (Details)
Nollywood actress and movie producer Toyin Abraham has opened up about the plans President Bola Tinubu shared with her during their last meeting in 2023. Following Tinubu’s election victory, Toyin publicly endorsed him, sharing photos from their meeting on social media and expressing confidence in his leadership.
According to Toyin, Tinubu assured her of his commitment to good governance and happiness for Nigerians. However, despite these assurances, Toyin has faced relentless online bullying and trolling from netizens critical of her support for Tinubu’s administration.
In response to a netizen’s inquiry about Tinubu’s plans, Toyin clarified, “You asked me in a polite way so I will definitely answer you. Of course, I was told and promised good governance and happiness for everyone and I wish, I believe. If things didn’t go well why do I have to be the one to suffer for it because I remember I voted for Jonathan and I was bullied but I didn’t put blame on anyone after everyone choose Buhari. So why would they be curse and trolling me every time.”
Addressing whether she believes Tinubu has failed in governance, Toyin said, “I have faced my life and career cos I am not a politician and I’m not in government. I have learnt my lesson never to be open with my choice again.”
Toyin’s candid revelation highlights the intense scrutiny and backlash faced by public figures who express political support. Despite her optimistic expectations from her meeting with Tinubu, the actress now prefers to focus on her career and personal life, distancing herself from political endorsements and the resulting controversies.
