No Threats Anywhere: Police Guarantee Safety For UTME Candidates Nationwide

According to Ireporter Online, the Nigeria Police Force has intensified nationwide security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organised by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), following the circulation of unverified reports alleging possible threats to candidates in certain parts of the country, particularly in the North Central region.

The police dismissed the claims as false and misleading, stressing that there is no credible intelligence indicating any danger to students sitting for the examination. Speaking through Force Public Relations Officer, Anthony Placid, the police noted that while the rumours had been taken seriously, proactive measures had already been implemented to guarantee a safe and orderly examination environment. He disclosed that security personnel have been strategically deployed—both visibly and covertly—across examination centres nationwide, with patrol teams scheduled for regular surveillance and specialised response units positioned for rapid intervention where necessary.

The Force further stated that it is working in close coordination with other security agencies to monitor potential risks and ensure swift responses to any emerging threats. It warned individuals against spreading unverified information capable of inciting panic, advising the public to rely solely on official communication channels. Candidates were encouraged to arrive early at their designated centres, adhere strictly to examination guidelines, and promptly report any suspicious activity to nearby security operatives. The police assured parents, students, and stakeholders of full protection throughout the examination period as the 2026 UTME is set to commence on April 16 and conclude on April 25 across approved centres nationwide.
