Nollywood Producer Stephanie-Coker Opens Up About Infertility-Struggles
Nollywood producer and television personality Stephanie Coker has shared her deeply personal experience with infertility, revealing her battle with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and its profound impact on her mental health.
In an interview with popular media personality Chude Jideonwo, Coker disclosed that she conceived her first child, Ariella, through in vitro fertilization (IVF). However, her attempt to conceive a second child via the same method was unsuccessful, leaving her devastated.
Coker described the emotional toll of the failed IVF attempt, recounting a moment when she felt so despondent that she contemplated stepping in front of a moving car. “I felt horrible after the IVF failed and actually wanted to stand in front of a car and let it hit me,” she admitted. “My daughter wants a sibling. I’m not getting back on that flight with no baby. I called my friend and told her, ‘I don’t think the child liked me. It didn’t stay.’”
The actress explained that her PCOS diagnosis was severe, describing it as “life-threatening.” She recounted being confined to a wheelchair, vomiting blood, and not menstruating for a year.
“I got pregnant and had my first child on the first IVF, but the second one failed,” Coker shared. “My condition was so severe that I was vomiting blood and didn’t see my period for a year.”
Coker’s candid revelation sheds light on the often unspoken challenges of infertility and the emotional and physical toll it can take on individuals. Her story highlights the resilience required to navigate such struggles and the importance of support and understanding for those facing similar battles.
