NPF Denies Extortion-Allegations In Promotion Interviews, Calls For Immediate-Reporting Of Misconduct (Details)

The Nigerian Police Force (NPF) has vehemently denied reports alleging that senior officers are demanding ₦30,000 bribes from junior officers in exchange for promotional interviews. In a statement released on Tuesday by ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Public Relations Officer of the force, on behalf of Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, the NPF expressed grave concern over these allegations of extortion and unethical conduct during the ongoing promotion interviews for inspectors aspiring to the rank of assistant superintendent of police.

“Such behavior undermines the core values of our institution and will not be tolerated,” the statement asserted. “The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, strongly condemns any form of corruption in the promotion process.”

The NPF has urged all officers to promptly report any instances of misconduct directly to the IGP via the dedicated hotline at 09077120194, or to the Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) at 08037168147.

Reaffirming its commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in the promotion process, the force warned that any officer found engaging in corrupt practices for personal gain would face stringent disciplinary actions.
