Oba Market : Obidients And Their Unruly Game A Case Of Uncultured Children By Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah

When I saw some Obidient supporters crying out that they were attacked on their way to their Lagos presidential rally yesterday, I couldn’t help but laugh.

It was especially ironic in light of the fact that Obidient supporters made failed  attempts to prevent Oshiomhole from acknowledging the cheers of market women who had gathered in their hundreds to welcome him with unprecedented fanfare a few days ago in Benin City.

For the avoidance of doubt, some short video clips are attached to this article, beginning with the moment Oshiomhole alighted from his vehicle after tirelessly acknowledging the cheers of Edo residents on the ring road axis and concluding with his departure from the Oba market to proceed to Oliha and Ogida markets, respectively.

As an eyewitness to what happened and as shown in these videos, the Obidients purposefully sought to prevent the market women from embracing Adams Oshiomhole, here is how it all began.

The first video depicts Oshiomhole’s decision to get out of his vehicle to acknowledge the thundering cheers, as well as the traders’ and market women’s enthusiastic reactions.

The second video shows them accompanying Oshiomhole to the market and insisting that he speak with them.

Subsequent videos reveal how Oshiomhole thanked them for their support and pleaded with them to extend it to the APC candidates, starting with Tinubu and moving on to Valentine Asuen for the Senate, Osaro Obaze for the House of Representatives, and Gabriel Iduseri for the House of Assembly.

Here you could witness market traders endorsing the candidates and then dancing to Tinubu’s campaign song before the uncultured Obidient followers, who were already green with jealousy, began plotting their mischief.

They began mobilising to shorten Oshiomhole’s visit; calls were made, and in no time, their members, who were clearly conducting a meeting nearby, mobilised to the scene and began yelling Obi…Obi…Obi, all with the purpose of inciting rage.

The final clip shows Oshiomhole thanking the market women for their listening ears as he left; by then, they had mobilised all of the campaign apparatus, including banners, drums, and even their Obi vehicles and trycycles with mobile speakers, and they began shouting Obi and insulting everyone, including the market women.

They clearly planned a fight to further show the APC as a violent party, therefore it was evident that this was a provocation scene. However, when their intentions fell through, they quickly took to social media to announce that “OBIDIENTS CHASE OUT OSHIOMHOLE FROM OBA MARKET.”

And some Nigerians are applauding the disorderly and intolerable actions of a few young individuals who obviously didn’t receive adequate parental guidance.

These Obidient people were successful in mocking their uncivilized culture, and regrettably, a segment of the biassed press praised their foolishness.

The same people who can be so provocative now complaining about being attacked in Lagos; on a good day, if the APC had responded in the same way the Obidients did at Oba Market, the situation would have been different.

However, the APC ignored their stupidity and proceeded to Oliha and Ogida marketplaces, where they were greeted with widespread fanfare.

Videos of the visits are also attached to this article; it is unfortunate that the Obident movement, now known as OBIDIOTS in some quarters, celebrates violence both online and offline; how would they feel if another political party disrupted their interaction with others, or do they believe one group of people has a monopoly on violence?

Who do you think would win a violent conflict between the APC and the ObIdient Movement? Unfortunately, sentiments do not win elections; The truth is that Obidients regard Peter Obi as a saviour, just as Batifieds regard Tinubu as a saint.

Cursing everyone because they don’t agree with you demonstrates nothing more than your lack of culture. I can see why they are referred to as Obidiots since they lack home training. We live in a democracy, and you cannot impose your beliefs on the other people.

My hope is that after the elections on February 25th, some of these their brainless devotees will realize that politics is all about cajoling and not intimidation. Imagine a minority forcing their beliefs on the majority; if they then become the majority, people will eat sand.

With an open mind, watch these videos and consider whether Adams Oshiomhole resembles someone who was chased away from the Oba market.

I can’t wait for the elections to be over and done with so that these folks can learn what it means to participate in a grassroots campaign as opposed to spreading false information on social media.
