However, authorities dismissed allegations involving crashed alien spacecraft, detained extraterrestrials, or staged moon landings. Historically, the facility played a significant role in testing advanced military technology, including the U-2 reconnaissance aircraft in the 1950s and later projects such as the B-2 stealth bomber.
