Ogun Judiciary Workers Suspend Strike

The union made this announcement via a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Adewale Adenekan, in Abeokuta on Monday.

The strike action was initially triggered by the state government’s failure to pay a 40 per cent peculiar allowance.

In a meeting held on Monday between the union’s National Officers, the Ogun JUSUN Executive Committee, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), and representatives from the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Joint Negotiation Council (JNC), it was confirmed that the union’s demand was genuine.

However, the focus of discussion shifted to the timing of implementing the union’s demands, considering the impending announcement by the Federal Government of the new minimum wage expected on May 1st. The implementation of this wage increase is slated for May to June 2024 for both federal and state workers.

With this development, the union has decided to suspend its strike, awaiting further updates on the implementation timeline for their demands.
