A long-wanted serial kidnapper, Clement Elijah, has finally been apprehended by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Ogun State Police Command. Elijah, linked to a previous abduction at Ajelanwa village in 2024, had evaded arrest until now, while two of his accomplices were earlier captured.

According to police spokesperson Omolola Odutola, Elijah was arrested in Ibiade community while preparing to abduct a prominent figure in Ago village, Abigi. His plot was intercepted due to swift collaboration between local residents and the police.

During the operation, officers recovered deadly weapons concealed in a surprising manner. Among the items seized were a pump-action rifle, a locally made pistol, and eight live cartridges cleverly hidden inside a Boom Speaker.

Further investigations led to the arrest of the gang’s armourer, Posi Friday, during a follow-up operation on June 16. Police believe the weapons were part of a larger plan to carry out more abductions in the area.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, praised residents of Ibiade and Abigi for their alertness and continuous support, emphasizing the importance of public cooperation in combating crime.
