Olumide Akpata Reflects On Life, Friendship, And Purpose As He Celebrates 52nd Birthday
Today, October 7th, 2024, Olumide Akpata, esteemed legal luminary and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, marks his 52nd birthday with a heartwarming reflection on life, friendship, and the values that have shaped him. In an official message shared on social media, Akpata expressed deep gratitude for the journey that has brought him to this moment, surrounded by family and lifelong friends who have been an integral part of his growth.
Choosing to celebrate his birthday intimately, Akpata highlighted the significance of spending the day with Doye Ogionwo, his primary school classmate and best friend of over 45 years, and Orhue Akpata, his first cousin and Kings College Lagos classmate. These friendships, he said, serve as a “poignant reminder of the days of little beginnings and the extraordinary journey” that has shaped his life. Filled with gratitude, he acknowledged God’s guidance in his life and the blessings he has received along the way.
Akpata’s birthday message goes beyond personal reflection, as he also touched on the importance of integrity, courage, and the strength to challenge convention—values that have guided him throughout his career. He addressed the concerns of those who have supported him, particularly following the disappointing gubernatorial election process of September 21st. Though marred by irregularities, Akpata views the experience as an opportunity for growth and a reaffirmation of his commitment to the pursuit of good governance. As he moves forward, he remains resolute in his mission to build a brighter future for both his State and the Nation, calling on others to hold fast to hope and continue the work of nation-building.
As he celebrates this milestone, Akpata is not only thankful for the love and support he has received but also renewed in his purpose, with a vision for a brighter, more democratic tomorrow. His reflections and optimism are a testament to his unwavering belief in the potential of the people and the strength of his character.
