Ondo Election Drama: APC Accuses PDP Of Spreading Groundless Claims Ahead Of Vote
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for demonstrating frustration and a lack of preparation ahead of the upcoming governorship election on Saturday. The APC made this statement in response to PDP’s...CONTINUE READING…
accusations of planned election rigging.
Speaking to the press in Okitipupa on Wednesday, APC Campaign Council Spokesman Banji Okunomo stated that the PDP’s baseless allegations would not distract the party from its focus on ensuring the success of its candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Okunomo pointed out that while the APC has been actively campaigning across the state, the opposition PDP has been preoccupied with unsubstantiated claims. He emphasized, “Instead of focusing on their own campaign, the PDP is making unfounded accusations of election rigging.”
He further questioned, “If we were planning to rig, why would the APC engage in extensive and rigorous campaigns across the state in recent weeks?”
The APC spokesman reiterated that the party had no intention of compromising the integrity of the election process. “We are committed to a free and fair election and have already mobilized extensively, knowing that Aiyedatiwa has earned the support of the electorate,” he said.
Okunomo also noted that Aiyedatiwa’s humanistic approach to governance over the past 10 months had earned him significant goodwill, and the APC was confident that he would win on Saturday without any need to interfere with the election process.
He added, “APC has run one of the most extensive and successful campaigns in the history of Ondo State, reaching every local government area, including remote areas. In all of them, we received positive feedback from the people who have expressed their support for Aiyedatiwa and the party.”
Okunomo urged the PDP to focus on internal unity and rebuilding the party, especially in the wake of defections following the PDP’s divisive governorship primaries.
