One K!lled As Wild Elephant Invades Oyo Community In Sh*cking Incident

According to Ireporter Online, a tragic wildlife incident has been reported in Innayin Community, Oyo State, where a wild elephant invasion led to the death of one resident while another person remains missing.

The incident reportedly occurred at about 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, sparking panic across the community after the unexpected appearance of the animal. The Oyo State Police Command confirmed the development through its spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, who disclosed that security operatives were immediately deployed following a distress call from residents.

Upon arrival at the scene, police operatives, working in collaboration with local vigilantes and hunters, discovered the lifeless body of a 45-year-old man, Ibrahim Tijani, in a nearby bush, with injuries believed to be consistent with a wild animal attack. His remains have been evacuated to the General Hospital in Iwere-Ile for preservation and further examination.

Authorities further revealed that another resident, identified as 50-year-old Alhaji Muhammadu Bingin, is currently missing after reportedly encountering the same elephant. Search and rescue operations have since been intensified to locate him.

Security agencies, alongside local hunters and vigilante groups, have been mobilised to the area to contain the situation and prevent further casualties. Residents of Innayin and surrounding communities have been urged to remain calm, avoid the affected areas, and promptly report any sighting of the animal to security authorities.

The police command also noted that relevant wildlife and conservation agencies, including the National Park Service, have been engaged to provide guidance on safely managing the situation in line with environmental regulations. The Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Olugbenga, assured residents that efforts are ongoing to restore calm and ensure public safety, while commending the cooperation of community members during the crisis.
