In a statement, Lt. Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, spokesperson for the Joint Task Force, confirmed that the operation was launched in response to an urgent distress call from residents and vigilantes in Yar Galadima village, Maru Local Government Area.

Around 5 a.m., troops stationed at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Hanutara were alerted to an ongoing terrorist attack on the village. The troops quickly mobilized to the area to provide assistance and restore order.

On their way to the village, the troops encountered terrorists at two separate ambush sites. The troops swiftly cleared the ambushes, neutralizing several attackers while others fled.

The Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma provided close air support, targeting the fleeing terrorists and neutralizing many of them in subsequent air strikes, causing significant casualties.

The Joint Task Force reaffirmed its dedication to eradicating terrorist threats in Zamfara State, the North West, and Niger State, underscoring its commitment to ensuring the safety and stability of the region.
