Opposition Is Dead – New APC Boss Dismisses PDP, Labour Party, Others

The newly appointed National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, has dismissed the relevance of rival political parties, declaring that the ruling party currently faces no viable opposition in the country’s political landscape.

According to iReporter Online, Yilwatda made the assertion during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, shortly after his official emergence as APC National Chairman. He specifically downplayed the influence of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Labour Party (LP), and African Democratic Congress (ADC), stating that recent political trends indicate their declining strength.

“There is no opposition for now,” Yilwatda said confidently, citing the failures of opposition parties in off-cycle governorship elections conducted in states such as Edo, Ondo, Kogi, and Imo following the 2023 general elections.

The APC chieftain, who formerly served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, emphasized that the ruling party has no concerns about the competitiveness of its political rivals, suggesting that the opposition has failed to present a coherent challenge or meaningful alternative to APC governance.

His remarks appear to signal a bold start to his tenure as chairman, positioning the APC as the dominant political force ahead of the next electoral cycle.
