Osogbo Progressive Union Swears In New Leadership, Pledges Unity And Revival Of Oroki Day
According to Ireporter Online, the Osogbo Progressive Union (OPU), the umbrella organization representing all indigenes of Osogbo, Osun State, has inaugurated its new executive team.
Alhaji Abdul Lateef Olayanju was sworn in as the President of OPU, alongside other executive members, during a ceremony held at the Ataoja Palace in Osogbo on Saturday.
In his acceptance address, Olayanju emphasized the leadership’s commitment to uniting all indigenes and reviving the annual Oroki Day, a traditional gathering that last took place in 2014. He stated that the union would work closely with the Osogbo Elders’ Council and the Osogbo Action Council to ensure the celebration returns in 2026.
Olayanju urged all indigenes to participate actively in programs that promote the welfare and image of Osogbo, describing Oroki Day as a key initiative for fostering community cohesion.
