Adedeji, who had been considered a potential candidate to succeed Governor Seyi Makinde, expressed that his current focus lies entirely on his duties at FIRS. He acknowledged that his decision might disappoint his supporters but emphasized the importance of staying committed to his present role.

“I want to put to rest all the rumors regarding my future political ambitions. I, Zaccheus Adedeji, will not be contesting the Oyo governorship election in 2027. I deeply understand that this news may not please everyone, but the grace that God has given me is clear—I have fulfilled my role as Finance Commissioner years ago, and now, I am focused on what lies ahead,” he stated.

Adedeji also requested the continued support and prayers of his constituents as he works to achieve his objectives at FIRS. His appointment to lead the agency by President Bola Tinubu in September 2023 marks a significant chapter in his career.
