Radio Nigeria Kogi Off Air as Armed Robbers Launch Midnight Attack – Vital Equipment Stolen

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, over ten heavily armed men raided Radio Nigeria’s Prime 101.5FM in Jimgbe, Kogi State, in the early hours of Saturday, forcing the station off air after carting away broadcasting equipment worth millions of naira.

The daring operation, which lasted more than three hours, left the station crippled and unable to transmit.

The General Manager of the station, Momoh-Jimoh Adeiza, described the robbery as a “major attack.”

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, Mr. Adeiza disclosed to journalists that staff arrived Saturday morning to discover that critical components had been stolen, including copper parts of feeder lines, 22 modules, armoured cables, and generator batteries—all essential to radio operations.

The only security guard on duty, Daniel Haruna, narrated the terrifying ordeal. “They came around 1 a.m., armed with guns and cutlasses. They tied me to a tree and blindfolded me. I couldn’t scream,” he recounted.

“They operated for over three hours. It’s the worst experience of my life,” Haruna said.

ACCORDING TO IREPORTER ONLINE, Mr. Adeiza also lamented the station’s current predicament and called on security agencies for swift intervention and support to get the station back on air.

Reacting to the incident, the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, condemned the act as pure vandalism and assured that the state government would collaborate with security forces to track down the perpetrators.

He emphasized that the government remains committed to protecting federal infrastructure and will work closely with the management of the station to assess the damage and provide needed support.
