Patrick Doyle Slams Gospel Industry Over Tems’ BET Award Win: ‘Entertainment Is Under Satan’s Influence’Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has shared his thoughts with the Christian community following Nigerian star Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, winning the Best Gospel/Inspirational Award at the 2024 BET Awards.

Tems took home the Dr. Bobby Jones Best Gospel/Inspirational Award for her track ‘Me & U’ at the ceremony held at the Peacock Theater in Downtown Los Angeles on Monday. Her song triumphed over notable competitors like Kirk Franklin, CeCe Winans, and Maverick City Music.

In a Facebook post, Patrick Doyle addressed the reactions from some Christians who were upset about Tems, a secular artist, receiving the award. He advised against seeking validation from what he described as the “fickle” entertainment industry, which he believes is influenced by negative forces.

Doyle wrote, “I understand the frustration of gospel artists who feel overshadowed by Tems, a secular musician, winning this gospel award. However, it’s time for dedicated Christians to stop looking for approval from the ever-changing entertainment industry, which, in my view, is under malevolent influence.”

Doyle’s comments reflect a broader critique of the entertainment industry’s impact on spiritual and moral values.
