Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporters have gathered in Abuja to protest at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Bola Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, received 8,794,726 votes and was declared President-Elect by INEC at 4 a.m. on Wednesday.

The former Lagos State governor won in 12 of Nigeria’s 36 states and received significant votes in several others to claim the most votes — 8,794,726, nearly two million more than his closest rival, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Atiku, 76, who has now run for president six times, received 6,984,520 votes, while Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), who galvanised young voters in an unprecedented manner in less than a year, received 6,101,533.
