Photo: Jonathan Pays Courtesy Visit To Tinubu At Aso Rock Villa
According to Ireporter Online, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday received former President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa in Abuja in what appeared to be a private courtesy visit.
The meeting was confirmed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, although details surrounding the purpose of the visit were not disclosed at the time of filing this report.
The encounter comes amid renewed public discourse involving the former president, following comments made by ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar during a recent television interview. Atiku had described Jonathan as a “decent but inexperienced” leader, suggesting that his perceived lack of experience affected his handling of national affairs during his tenure.
Responding to the remarks at the 2025 Association of Retired Career Ambassadors of Nigeria awards ceremony in Abuja, Jonathan acknowledged that leadership inevitably comes with mistakes, stressing that no leader is infallible. He defended his time in office, stating that he did his utmost while serving as president.
Jonathan, who assumed office in 2010 at the age of 53 and left in 2015 at 58, questioned criticisms surrounding his age and experience at the time, noting that leadership should not be defined by age alone. He emphasized that human error is unavoidable in governance, regardless of position or status.
