Plateau Government And Police Condemn Recent Attack In Bokkos Community

An unknown number of people have been killed after gunmen attacked a wake-keeping ceremony on Thursday night in the Ruwi community, located within the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to the Plateau State Police Command, on March 27, 2025, at approximately 10:00 pm, they received reports of armed assailants who had stormed Ruwi village around 9:20 pm, opening fire indiscriminately. The attack resulted in several fatalities among community members attending a wake for a loved one, while others sustained various injuries.

In response, Ramnap expressed condolences on behalf of the state government to the families of the victims, condemning the lawless act. She stated that such violence undermines the government’s efforts to foster peaceful coexistence among all residents of the state. She emphasized that the administration led by Governor Mutfwang would not tolerate the brutal killings of innocent citizens and urged the public to remain calm as authorities investigate the matter.

Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, also extended condolences to the victims’ families and the people of the state. He instructed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Bokkos to deploy officers to the area for immediate action. The Commissioner reassured the people of Plateau that under his leadership, the police remain committed to safeguarding the lives and properties of the state’s law-abiding citizens.
