Pochettino Teases Nicholas Jackson’s Potential Comeback Against Liverpool After AFCON Disappointment
Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino, has dropped hints that forward Nicholas Jackson, recently back from the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast, might play in the upcoming clash against Liverpool….CONTINUE READING
Jackson represented Senegal, who faced an early exit from the tournament, losing to Ivory Coast in the round of 16.
With Senegal out of the competition, Jackson returned to England ahead of the Premier League match against Liverpool at Anfield. Pochettino, eager to secure a victory and climb higher on the league table, drew parallels to Ghana’s Inaki Williams, who helped his team win against FC Barcelona shortly after their AFCON exit.
“We are waiting. All I can say is that maybe he will be there [against Liverpool]… Why can’t Jackson arrive and score the winning goal?” Pochettino remarked. He emphasized Jackson’s significance to the team, highlighting his work rate, ability to press high, and goal-scoring record.
While expressing sadness for Senegal’s AFCON elimination, Pochettino revealed the selfish joy of having Jackson back and the possibility of his involvement in the Liverpool match. The Chelsea manager is optimistic about Jackson’s potential impact on the game.
