Police Apprehend Three Men For Rustling 132 Rams In Niger

In a significant breakthrough, authorities in Niger State have apprehended three individuals for the theft of 132 rams in Mashegu Local Government Area. According to SP Wasiu Abiodun, spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, the trio conspired to rustle the rams from two victims who were grazing their livestock in the Manigi area of Mashegu LGA. The crime came to light when one of the victims spotted Chumo attempting to sell six of the stolen rams at Zungeru Market on March 14, 2024, prompting immediate action.

Upon arrest, Chumo led authorities to Jimi village, where the remainder of the stolen rams were kept. Subsequently, Aliyu and Arzika were also apprehended. The suspects have since been transferred to the Crack Squad Unit of the Police Command for thorough investigation and prosecution.

In a positive development, the recovered rams have been returned to their rightful owner, bringing a sense of relief to the affected individual.

This successful operation underscores the commitment of law enforcement agencies in Niger State to combat livestock theft and ensure the safety and security of residents and their property
