Police Arrest Two in Case of Missing Edo Mechanic

The Edo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the mysterious disappearance of a 49-year-old mechanic, Edward Onalise, in Benin City.

Onalise, who repaired Mercedes Benz cars and also worked as a commercial driver, went missing on April 12, 2025, after being hired by an unknown individual to transport a refrigerator to the Obazangbo community. He never returned, and his phone was later found switched off.

According to police spokesperson Moses Yamu, the arrested suspects are Ekundayo Ohimaye and Okuze Saturday. Authorities began investigating after Onalise’s vehicle was found on May 25 in Obazangbo.

Further investigation led police to Okuze Saturday’s residence, where personal items belonging to the missing man—including his phone, radio, slippers, and SIM cards—were recovered.

The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, has ordered a full investigation to uncover the truth behind Onalise’s disappearance.
