Police to VeryDarkMan: Don’t Disrupt Anambra’s Peace Over Fish Magnet’s Death
Security authorities in Anambra State have issued a stern warning to social media personality Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, urging him to reconsider plans for a public procession in honour of the late entrepreneur Ifesinachi Onyekere, also known as Fish Magnet. The proposed candlelight event, scheduled to take place in Awka, has raised concerns about potential disruptions to public order.
According to Ireporter Online, the Anambra State Police Command cautioned that such a gathering may incite unrest, despite being intended to draw attention to ongoing security concerns in the region. The state’s Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, emphasized that no individual, regardless of their influence, would be permitted to compromise the peace and stability currently being maintained across the state.
The family of the deceased has reportedly dissociated itself from the planned event, appealing for privacy as they continue to grieve and await the outcome of official investigations into the tragic abduction and killing of Onyekere by suspected gunmen.
The police highlighted that Anambra remains one of the most peaceful states in the region due to the sustained efforts of law enforcement agencies and community stakeholders. In their statement, officials encouraged residents to go about their normal activities without fear, reiterating the state’s commitment to preserving security and order.
Authorities further cautioned public figures and digital influencers to avoid spreading narratives or organizing actions that could incite panic or undermine public confidence in the security apparatus.
