President Bola Tinubu Joins Global-Leaders In Condemning Attack On Ex-President Trump
President Bola Tinubu has joined world leaders in condemning the failed assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump during a campaign rally in Pennsylvania.
The shooting incident, which occurred on Saturday, resulted in a grazing wound to Mr. Trump’s right ear and tragically claimed the life of one bystander, with two others critically injured.
In a statement, Mr. Tinubu described the attack on Mr. Trump as “deplorable and beyond the bounds of democratic norms.”
“Violence has no place in democracy,” Tinubu asserted, expressing Nigeria’s solidarity with the United States during this challenging time.
The US Secret Service swiftly neutralized the suspected shooter, who had fired from an elevated position outside the rally venue. American authorities continue to investigate the incident.
Global Outpouring of Support
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese condemned the attack as “inexcusable,” emphasizing shared democratic values with the United States.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer expressed shock and solidarity, denouncing political violence and offering condolences to the victims.
Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed deep concern and condemned political violence unequivocally.
French President Emmanuel Macron extended sympathy to Mr. Trump and the American people, lamenting the tragic outcome of the attack.
Chinese President Xi Jinping conveyed compassion and interest in the investigation, affirming China’s concern for the situation.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi strongly condemned the attack, stressing that violence has no place in politics or democracy.
Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan condemned the attempt, offering well wishes for Mr. Trump’s recovery and urging a thorough investigation to uphold the integrity of US elections.
