President Tinubu Assigns Former INEC Chairman, Jega, To A Fresh Position

In this new role, Prof. Jega will serve as the pro-chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Board of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) in Sokoto State.
Jega’s appointment is among 555 others approved by President Tinubu to serve as chairmen and members of governing councils of tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
Attahiru Jega born 11 January 1957, is a Nigerian academic and former vice-chancellor of Bayero University, Kano..
Recall that on June 8, 2010, he was nominated by then President Goodluck Jonathan as the new Chairman of INEC subject to Senate confirmation, as a replacement for Professor Maurice Iwu, who vacated the post on April 28, 2010.
Jega retired on 30 June 2015, handing over his position to Amina Zakari according to a directive by President Muhammadu Buhari.
