Raheem Sterling Pleads Guilty After Crashing £270k Lamborghini, Admits Dangerous Driving

Former England international Raheem Sterling has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and possessing nitrous oxide following a crash involving his £270,000 Lamborghini.

The 31-year-old former Premier League winger entered the guilty pleas at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday in connection with the incident, which occurred on May 28.

Sterling admitted driving a Lamborghini Urus dangerously on sections of the M25, M3, A327 and Minley Road before the vehicle was involved in a single-car collision on the M3 southbound near the Minley interchange.

He also admitted possessing six nitrous oxide canisters for wrongful inhalation, an offence involving a Class C drug, as well as failing to provide a specimen.

According to Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, no other vehicles were involved in the crash and no injuries were reported.

Sterling appeared in court wearing a black suit jacket, black trousers, black shoes and a dark-coloured top.

The former Manchester City and Chelsea player could face a custodial sentence of up to two years for the dangerous driving offence, depending on the outcome of the case.

Sterling enjoyed a highly successful international career with England, scoring 20 goals in 82 appearances. He was part of the squad that reached the 2018 FIFA World Cup semi-finals and the Euro 2020 final.

He began his professional career at Liverpool after coming through the Queens Park Rangers academy before moving to Manchester City in 2015. During his time at City, he won four Premier League titles, five League Cups and the FA Cup in 2019.

Sterling joined Chelsea in 2022 but later spent the 2024-25 season on loan at Arsenal after falling out of favour at Stamford Bridge. He subsequently joined Dutch side Feyenoord on a short-term deal that ended last season and is currently without a club.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica, Sterling was appointed an MBE in the 2021 Queen’s Birthday Honours for his contribution to racial equality in sport. He has been a prominent voice in campaigns against racism and discrimination in football.
