Rivers ADC Reveals Deputy Governorship Candidate For 2027 Election

The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has officially named David Amapakaye Okumgba as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 governorship election, pairing him with the party’s governorship flagbearer, Gabriel Baritulem Pidomson.

The announcement was made in a statement released on Monday by the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Chizy Enyi.

According to the statement, the party described Okumgba as a seasoned administrator, successful businessman and experienced political figure whose dedication to public service and democratic principles has earned him widespread recognition within and outside Rivers State.

The ADC stated that Okumgba has demonstrated outstanding leadership in both the private and political sectors, making him a suitable choice for the position.

The party further explained that his selection was based on his extensive political experience, strong organisational ability, interpersonal skills and deep understanding of Rivers State’s socio-political environment.

It expressed confidence that the Pidomson-Okumgba ticket embodies competence, experience and inclusiveness, while presenting a shared vision focused on good governance, accountability, economic development, improved security and equal opportunities for all residents.

The party also maintained that the joint ticket reflects the aspirations of the people of Rivers State and possesses the leadership, integrity and capacity required to drive meaningful progress across the state.

The ADC called on its members, supporters and the people of Rivers State to unite behind the Pidomson-Okumgba ticket as preparations gather momentum for the 2027 governorship election.
