Rivers APC Accuses Governor Fubara Of Frivolous Spending Of State Funds

Okocha made these assertions during a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, expressing the APC’s dissatisfaction with the state’s development under Fubara’s administration.
According to Okocha, the APC in Rivers State perceives Fubara’s administration as lacking vision, emphasizing concerns over the governor’s expenditure on thanksgiving events across all local government areas of the state.
“We are here to condemn in absolute terms the inactivity of this government,” Okocha stated. “The governor is meant to consolidate on the road plan of his predecessors, but we have seen that the governor has derailed from the consolidation plan.”
He further criticized the lack of continuity in government projects, highlighting the deviation from road development plans initiated by previous administrations. Okocha pointed out that apart from the ring road project initiated by former Governor Nyesom Wike, there have been no significant road projects under the current administration.
Addressing economic challenges, Okocha attributed the global hardship to various factors and defended President Bola Tinubu’s actions to alleviate suffering, such as the removal of fuel subsidies. He urged Fubara to utilize the substantial federal allocation received by Rivers State to address the state’s pressing needs.
In conclusion, Okocha called on the governor to conduct local government elections as mandated by the constitution and urged him to establish the State Executive Council. He emphasized the importance of collaborative governance with the State Assembly, given the APC’s majority presence in the assembly.
