Rivers: “Come Back Home, Rainbow Coalition Still Has 8 Years” — Wike

According to Ireporter Online, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has called on aggrieved politicians aligned with Rivers State Governor, Siminilayi Fubara, to return to the fold of the Rainbow Coalition, expressing confidence in its political dominance ahead of the 2027 elections.

Wike made the appeal in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, during a luncheon organized for candidates of the coalition. He declared that political contests in both Rivers State and the presidential race were already settled, insisting that the coalition remains firmly in control.

The FCT Minister stated that he has forgiven all those who previously opposed him politically in the state, urging reconciliation and unity within the group.

He further expressed optimism that the Rainbow Coalition would not only secure victory in the upcoming elections but would also maintain political control for another eight years.

Addressing concerns about possible electoral surprises, Wike dismissed such expectations, maintaining that the coalition remains alert and confident of its continued dominance.

In a related development, former presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Atiku Abubakar, criticized Wike over the alleged denial of access to a public facility in Abuja for the party’s presidential candidate affirmation event. Atiku accused the administration of President Bola Tinubu of using state institutions to frustrate opposition parties and undermine democratic principles.

He described the action as a breach of constitutional rights, warning of what he termed growing intolerance toward opposition politics under the current government.
