Senegal forward Sadio Mané has strongly criticised the Confederation of African Football following its controversial decision to overturn the outcome of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final.

According to Ireporter Online, CAF announced on Tuesday that Senegal had been stripped of the AFCON title after a review of the final match, with the trophy subsequently awarded to Morocco. The ruling, issued by the CAF Appeal Board, effectively altered the official result of the January final.

The board concluded that Senegal forfeited the match after abandoning the pitch during a tense and chaotic encounter. As a result, the initial outcome was nullified, and Morocco was handed a 3-0 walkover victory, confirming them as African champions.

Reacting to the development, Mané expressed deep frustration, alleging that corruption continues to undermine the integrity of football on the continent. He lamented that decisions made off the pitch are increasingly determining outcomes that should be settled during play, warning that such actions risk eroding the passion of millions of fans.

Meanwhile, the Senegal Football Federation has rejected the verdict and is preparing to challenge the decision at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
