Sani Present, El-Rufai Absent At Son’s Wedding (PHOTOS)
Former Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State was noticeably absent during the wedding of his eldest son, Bello, to his second wife, Aisha Habibu Shuaibu, on Saturday.
Reports indicate that El-Rufai left the country after withdrawing from the ministerial race.
Last week, the senate confirmed 45 out of 48 ministerial nominees by President Bola Tinubu, with El-Rufai and two others awaiting security clearance.
After meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Abuja on Tuesday, El-Rufai flew abroad, with initial sources suggesting he would visit Europe first, then Egypt.
The wedding involved a private Nikah between Bello, who serves as Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Banking Regulations, and the daughter of a former Military Administrator for Plateau and Niger States, Col. Habibu Shuaibu. Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna, for whom Bello once worked as a legislative aide during the governor’s time as a senator, stood in as the father of the day.
Though Hausa tradition usually involves representatives of both families, El-Rufai’s wife, Hajia Hadiza Isma El-Rufai, was present.
Governor Uba Sani expressed his delight at being the father of the day and shared pictures of the ceremony on his verified X account (formerly known as Twitter). In his post, he wished the newlyweds a happy married life, praying that Allah blesses their union.
