Sefinat Ododo Takes Lead In Combating Tuberculosis In Kogi State

The wife of Kogi State Governor, Sefinat Ododo, has launched a significant campaign to combat tuberculosis (TB) in Kogi State. The initiative, which was unveiled at the Lugards House in Lokoja, aims to raise awareness and ensure effective treatment for TB across the state.

Hajiya Ododo emphasized that the campaign is crucial for highlighting that tuberculosis is preventable, treatable, and curable. She expressed gratitude to the partners, stakeholders, and health care professionals who have supported this effort.

“I am honored to accept the call to serve as the ‘Stop TB Champion for Kogi State’. I urge the wives of chairmen from the 21 local government areas to also take on the role of TB champions in their communities,” Ododo stated.

The first lady encouraged residents to seek testing if they experience persistent coughing for more than two weeks. She also commended Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her leadership and dedication to raising awareness about TB.

Dr. Adams Abdulazeez, Kogi’s Commissioner for Health, highlighted the governor’s investments in the health sector, including the revitalization of primary healthcare centers and the expansion of TB diagnostic and treatment services.

Abdulazeez stressed the importance of early detection and treatment, noting that TB remains a public health concern despite being preventable and curable.
